Urgent Care vs. Emergency Room
Chesapeake ERgent Care, like other urgent care providers, offers significant cost and time savings over the traditional emergency room. Urgent care is also vastly more convenient for you, the patient.
WHEN TO USE URGENT CARE
Urgent care offers significant cost and time savings as well as convenience for patients. At Chesapeake ERgent Care we can do most blood tests, all x-rays and all minor procedures that can be done in the ER. In fact, our bloodwork is done using state of the art machinery that requires only a few drops of blood at the most—no long needles, just a finger prick. Best of all you’ll have results back in minutes, versus hours in an ER.
These services are available at a substantial saving over the ER, and we make sure our patients receive only one bill from us. In fact, it is nearly three times more expensive to be treated in an ER for the same services we offer at Chesapeake ERgent Care.
Urgent care is appropriate for most of what is actually seen in the average ER, such as sprains, bruises, falls, mild shortness of breath, musculoskeletal injuries, medication refills, immunizations, cuts, broken bones, and eye problems.
WHEN TO GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM
The ER is most appropriate when facing a serious and sudden medical emergency. If you are experiencing chest pains, neurologic impairments, stroke, severe shortness of breath, an amputation, or if you have been involved in a bad car accident, then go directly to the ER as opposed to an urgent care center.
